Call for submissions – “My Winter City” photography exhibit

Posted on Monday December 21, 2020

The Cambridge Centre for the Arts is looking for the community’s help to build ‘My Winter City’, an exhibit of large format photographs that will be featured on the building along Wellington Street. This special exhibit, viewable from the street, will be on display for February and March.

Residents are invited to submit photos of themselves, or family members, for possible inclusion in this window display.

What type of photo to submit

Close up portrait (head and shoulders) - you wearing your favourite winter hat, scarf, earmuffs, ski glasses, snowboarding helmet etc.

Head-to-toe photo of individuals standing in winter dress – whatever that is for you - boots, snow pants, coat, jacket, parka, gloves, mittens, scarf, shawl, hood or winter sports gear. Can be holding winter equipment or items as well.

Close up action photos of one or two people - actively participating in any outdoor winter activity. Walking, shoveling snow, skating, building a snow fort, skiing – whatever you do outside in the winter!

What to keep in mind

Photos will be displayed in the windows, viewed from the street, and printed to a large size – (e.g.. 44” wide x 23” high or 21” wide x 28” high) Keep this size in mind when choosing your photo submission(s). High resolution photos are preferred.

Photos picked for the window display will be a diverse selection to represent the wide range of people and activities in Cambridge. Choices will also be guided by space limitations, and the quality of the photo composition, light and impact of the image.

Photos not included in the window exhibition because of space restrictions or other factors will be posted to the “My Winter City” online photo album on the Current Exhibition page.

How to submit photos

Submit your photos at Photos will be accepted until January 12, 2021.
