Registration for Summer Camp programs starts February 1, 2020 so register early to ensure a spot in our exciting Art Camps. We offer a variety of fun and creative, engaging camps led by enthusiastic artists and arts educators with professional training in their field and extensive programming experience. They are passionate about encouraging children to make art, act, sing and dance! 

Camps are half day, or full day. Full lunch supervision provided. Children attending a morning half day camp and an afternoon half day camp will also be supervise over the lunch hour. Week of June 29 - July 3

Oh Canada! Coast to Coast Art Adventure, Ages 6-9, 9am-4pm

A great chance for children to Celebrate Canada Day and the start of summer with an imaginative art trip across this great country! Projects include creating bold, striking prints like the great Inuit artists, painting inspiring landscapes in the spirit of Homer Watson and making whimsical art inspired by the east coast's Maud Lewis. Led by artist and teacher Maria Sousa-Rovers. No program July 1.

Create Your Own Comic Book!, Ages 8-12, 9am-4pm 

Everyone can make their very own comic book in this fun and creative camp. Using your own story, or one we provide, you will learn how to lay out the panels, write dialogue, develop characters, draw scenes and bring it all to life with dynamic colour and design. Theatre Arts: Act Out!, Ages 8-12, 9am-4pm 

Have a blast making characters and stories come alive! Explore the performing arts in a creative and fun space,  enjoying theatre games and activities involving drama, movement,  improvisation, singing and storytelling. Live Action Film Making I,  Ages 8-12, 9am-4pm

Are you an aspiring film maker? This exciting week is for you! Learn about different elements of live action film making such as location scouting, writing, producing, directing, acting, and editing. Bring a cel phone, laptop or tablet if possible. Additional equipment will be provided. Screening of films  for family and friends. Copy of all films provided to each participant. Led by local film maker Dave Hopkinson.

Mr. McGregor's Garden, Ages 6-9, 1-4pm

This year we will have fun exploring the smallest creatures in  the garden of Mr. McGregor! Find out about lady bugs, dragonflies,  birds, bugs and bees. Enjoy making special items like mosaic butterfly stepping stones, wire and rock critters, garden gnomes,  yarn flowers and bug hotels. Enjoy tasty cookies in the shape of these creatures. In the spirit of Greta Thunberg spend a week exploring how young people can save the planet! Use storytelling, mime and tableau to express your feelings about the environment. Make a blue box mask and a recycled paper costume. Repurpose treasures to create a Truffula Tree while we dive into the world of The Lorax by Dr. Suess. Miniature Fantasy Garden,  Ages 6-9,  1-4pm

A wonderful chance to create a living, magical world in miniature! Children will create characters, buildings, animals and more. All set in a lush, green world of real plants.  Traditional themes can include fairies, elves and woodland creatures but it can be a world of monsters, dinosaurs or even a place inspired by favourite fantasy book or movie. Musical Theatre: Welcome to the Jungle,  Ages 6-9,  9am-12pm

This delightful story of Panya, a tiny mouse who uses her charm to escape the claws of the ferocious lion Maliki is based on Aesop's fable The Lion and the Mouse. Children will have great fun getting into character, learning how to express themselves on stage and making props, costumes and backdrops to prepare for a final performance. Plenty of additional roles including Tumbili the monkey, Tembo the elephant, Kiboko the hippo and Twiga the giraffe. Led by Rachel Cleland, a trained singer with extensive experience running children's musical drama programs.

Pixel Art for Video Games,  Ages 8-12,  1-4pm

Discover how to make classic pixel art in the style of Super Mario, Zelda and Terraria. Work on creating tilesets, characters, terrain and background with effective lines, shading and colouring. Design buildings, plants, water and animals as well as weapons, coins, hearts, potions and more. You will also animate your pixel art to load into a working video game. Spend the week producing some new, stylish fashions and accessories from re-purposed clothing. Expecto Patronum! Calling all Muggles and Wizards! Immerse  yourself in the fantastic world of Harry Potter. Indoor and Outdoor Photography,  Ages 8-12,  9am-4pm

Discover how to photograph natural features, architecture, animals, people and more. Explore use of lighting, composition and developing a keen eye for detail to capture great photographs. Plenty of walking trips throughout the downtown area to take photographs. Also learn how to set up a photo shoot 'in studio'. Each child will receive a photography tips and techniques booklet. Spend an inspiring week learning how to draw objects, animals, people and more using black and white pens, markers and various drawing surfaces. Everyone around the world loves to sing! In this camp children learn lively songs from thirteen different countries including Nigeria, Ireland, Japan, Canada, Russia and Mexico. A great way to develop singing and performance skills while celebrating cultural diversity.
